Overcoming Hurt

Overcoming Hurt The life of Joseph is a fascinating one. What we learn about his adventures is that no matter the evil that was done to him God always worked things out for his advantage. Joseph's attitude through the whole ordeal is quite extraordinary. He had every reason to be bitter. He had every reason to be angry, and no doubt there would have been moments in his silence where he was. But in the end, he held onto the truth that God had a greater plan and purpose for him. Take note of what he says to his brothers when he reveals himself to them in Genesis 45:4-7, " And Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near to me.” So they came near. Then he said: “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.  But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.  For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harves

Sin is Like a Game of Darts

When we bought our house recently, one of the things that was left from the previous owners was a dart board. I do enjoy playing darts, but I am not very good at it. In these videos I will show you through a game of darts what sin is and how God also plays his own game of darts which is much better than the games we will ever play. When you watch the professionals play darts, they are all on another level. Yet, as good as they are, there will be times w

Is Your Church A Safe Place

In an era where safety is high on the radar for any secular business, measures are now put in place to make sure that all employees are able to come into work in a safe and protective environment. According to Dr Paul McCarthy, a professor at Griffith University, approximately 2.5 million people have experienced some kind of workplace bullying in their lifetime in Australia alone. In fact, in 2022, a new Respect at Work Bill was passed in the Federal government, putting the responsibility on the employee to put protective measures in place and any failure to do so could result in infringement notices and costly court cases. These measures, for some in our culture seem ridiculous and unproductive; however, these measures have gone a long way to curbing the effects of bullying in the workplace. But as businesses prepare their staff for such measures, what are our churches doing? Is there any protective mechanisms in place to prevent workplace bullying? Sadly, I can say not enough is bei
